This Privacy Policy describes how al.bot (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects the information you provide when using the al.bot web extension (the “Extension”). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data responsibly.
Please note that we have no control over the data collection, use or storage practices of the third party LLM providers used by this extension. For more information, users should refer to the privacy policy of each individual third party.
When you use the al.bot Extension, we collect the following information:
- User Messages: We collect the text you enter, including your message and any custom prompt settings.
- AI Responses: We collect the responses generated by the AI providers you choose to use.
- Generated Summaries: We process the collected messages and responses to generate summaries.
The information we collect is used solely for the purpose of providing and improving the functionality of the al.bot Extension. Specifically:
- Message Processing: Your messages are transmitted to your selected third-party AI providers (which may include OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Anthropic’s Claude, Microsoft’s Copilot, DeepSeek, Google’s Gemini, Meta AI, Perplexity, Mistral, Grok and Qwen) for processing. Each AI provider generates a response based on your input.
- Summary Generation: The responses from the AI providers, along with your original message, are processed on our servers to generate a summary.
- Temporary Storage: Your messages, the AI responses, and the generated summary are temporarily stored during the active session and are automatically deleted after the summary is generated and displayed.
- Shared Chats: If you choose to share a chat, we will store the messages, AI responses, and summary associated with that shared chat.
- Quality Improvement: If you choose to rate an AI response, we store your original message, the rating anonymously, and the rated response to help improve our service.
3. Lawful Basis and Legitimate Interests
We process your data based on the following lawful bases:
- Contract: For the core functionality of the Extension (processing messages and generating summaries), the lawful basis is contract. By using the Extension, you enter into a contract with us for these services.
- Legitimate Interests: For quality improvement (storing rated responses), our lawful basis is legitimate interests. Our legitimate interest is improving the performance and quality of our service. We believe that processing this data anonymously, and only when you actively choose to rate a response, is proportionate and has minimal impact on your privacy. You have the right to object to this processing (see Section 10).
- Consent: For shared chats, our lawful basis is consent. By actively choosing to share a chat, you give us your explicit consent to store the associated data. You have the right to withdraw this consent by emailing us at [email protected].
4. Data Retention and Deletion
We adhere to a strict data retention policy:
- All messages, AI responses, and summaries are automatically and permanently deleted from our servers immediately after generation, unless you explicitly choose to share the chat or rate a response.
- For shared chats, we retain the messages, AI responses, and summary associated with that specific shared chat indefinitely until you invoke your right to withdraw this consent by emailing us at [email protected].
- For rated responses, we store the original message, the anonymous rating, and the rated response indefinitely to improve the quality of our service until you invoke your right to withdraw this consent by emailing us at [email protected].
5. Third-Party Data Sharing
We share your messages with your selected AI providers through your browser for the purpose of generating responses. The specific AI providers you can choose from include OpenAI (ChatGPT), Anthropic (Claude), Microsoft (Copilot), DeepSeek, Google (Gemini), Meta AI, Perplexity, Mistral, Grok and Qwen. We do not share your data with any other third parties, except as required by law (see Section 7). Each AI provider’s privacy policy will govern their handling of the data they receive. You are encouraged to review the individual AI providers’ privacy policies.
6. Data Security
We implement reasonable security measures to protect the data transmitted between the Extension and the AI Provider. However, no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
7. Legal Compliance
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal request, such as a court order or subpoena.
